LO2 Indesign practice

Today I learnt how to use Indesign this is because it the program we will be using to make our magazines. On the program I learnt the skills of adding pictures, text and paragraphs. How to rap text around photos. We created a cheese magazine to learn these skills. These will be very useful skills because I will use them when I am making my own magazine. Also it has shown me how to layout my magazine.

LO2 Editorial Planning

1. What do you want to tell you readers?

2. What is the strongest article in your magazine?

I have spent my childhood visiting parks and have a keen interest in the wildlife. I also visit my park regularly.

For the first article of Park Life. I thought I should tell you something about our company and our reason for making this magazine. I have created Park Life because I feel it is important for people to join together in their local community and look after their local parks. Parks use to be a massive park of a community and it would be a place for socialising and having events. But now in the modern day parks are used for walking dogs and taking you children to the play area. Though people still use their local parks a lot. But I feel that the spirit of community has gone from local parks. I would like this magazine to bring that back. I would like more people to get involved in their local parks and their community. People should feel inspired to help out more in their local parks and interact with other people in their community.

Personally as a child I visited lots of parks and enjoyed the activities that were held there and the friendly environment. I still visit my local park almost every day to walk my dogs. So I felt it was important to have a magazine about these places that we love although may take for granted. Meersbrook P ark is my local park so I thought it would be best to start off the first edition with this park. I went to Meersbrook park a lot as a child and went in the playground. In the park was my after school club as well, so I would go there everyday after primary school. Now I use the park to walk my dogs on a regular basis.
There is a spread on Bishops house which tells you everything you need to know about it. Bishops house is a big landmark of Meersbrook park so I felt it was very important to include it. You will she shown the history of the park and what goes on in there. Also inside this magazine there is an interview with someone who visits the park regularly. This gives you the chance to get a different opinion of the park. Also you can see their purpose for the park and why they don't go to other parks. Another article is a 'how to guide' this will show you how to build a simple small animal shelter. You can make it and put in your local park.
So I have created this magazine to showcase the cities best parks, each week will be a different park. This is so I can fill it with information rather than only showing you a brief description. You'll be able to experience the park just by reading it. So I hope you enjoy our first edition.

LO2 Legal and Ethical issues

Sharing someones personal information without their consent use

Law 1 Obscene publications Act 1959 and 1964
this law makes it an offence to publish, whether to gain or not, any content whose effect will tend to 'deprave and corrupt' those likely to read see or hear the matter contained or embodied in.

In my park magazine I will not publish any obscene pictures or any inappropriate images, so my magazine doesn't break the obscene publications act.

Law 2 The Deformation Act 2013
This act states that a publisher has broken the law when it publishes content.

In my magazine I will avoid contributing the deformation act by not saying anything about the park that isn't true and will not show the park negatively.

Law 3 Copyright law
At it's heart copyright law covers the publication of content (written or image) without the permission of the auth/copyright holder.

For my magazine I will not break the copyright law by using any text or images that are copyrighted. All the pictures I will use will be my own.

Law 4 Negligent publication
Someone advertising something then the the reader/viewer tries to replicates that and gets seriously hurt or damages their property

Ethical Issues those are not covered by law for example if a fashion magazine uses real fur in a shoot some may say that this is unethical
I will make sure that it is shown that wildlife has room in the park to live and the dogs have room to run around.

Because I am taking the pictures that will be used on the magazine there will be no copyright issues also if I do use any images that I do not own I will makes sure they are from a copyright free website. For the historic photos of the park I have used images that are free to use with no copyright.
