Bishops house is a half-timbered house in Meersbrook park it was built in the 1500's. It is now 1 of 3 remaining timbered houses in Sheffield. The reason that the building is called bishops house is because it was supposedly built for two brothers. Geoffrey and John Blythe were both bishops so the house was built for them to live in. Although there is actual no evidence that they lived in the house. The earliest known residence in the house was William Blyth, he was a farmer and lived in the house in 1627. 1735 was the year that the last family member of the house (Samuel Blyth) died. So in between 1735 and 1886 the house was owned by various different people. In this time it was also subdivided into two dwellings. Then in 1886 the ownership of the house was passed to the Sheffield City Council. The house has been a museum since 1976. It is open to the public on Saturdays and it also has events for schools. Bishops house is a very iconic part of Meersbrook park and it's community. That is why it is so popular.

In the park there is a skate park, this allows people to skate and ride their bikes also spray paint on the skate park. This is good because it is in a controlled area for spray painting. So people are less likely to vandalise other areas of the park. There is also a free tennis/badminton court. This is located in the no dogs area of the park .The park also has 2 bowling greens at the bottom entrance of the park, you have to pay a small fee to join the club and play bowls. But the bowling green is its own little community with friendly people form the area. There are 2 play grounds, one of them is gated so it is safer for children who may not like dogs and is near the bottom of the park. The second one is open and a little smaller, it is at the top of the park. As well as the playground, Bishop's house is also at the top of the park. There is a walled garden which hosts different festivals, it has a wide variety of plants and flowers.  Finally there is a building at the bottom of the park that is a nursery in the day and is an after school club in the evenings. This is to provide for the 3 primary schools in the area.

Meersbrook park is set on a big hillside. This means it gives an amazing view of the city, which creates very iconic photos. In 1885 the Sheffield City Council bought the land along with Bishops house and Meersbrook house. The park is open to the public all year round. The park has a wide range of different actives within it. This makes it very popular

LO1 Target audience

My target audience is middle aged to old aged people. This is because at this age people are more community based and want to be a part of it. They are very interested in the community and are interested in things that happen in their area. Also older people who a retired have a lot more free time to help the community. Their ABC stats are A, B, C1 and C2. The gender would be mostly female from 39- 60. The sample target audience is Sarah she uses her local park everyday to walk her dogs. She helps with community fairs and activities, she is very proud of her community. Sarah is 51 and had 2 children, she encourages them to join in with the community.

LO1 Development of name ideas

Outdoors extravaganza
This makes the magazine seem more exciting. Also it makes it more youthful. But some people will not understand the word extravaganza. This could possibly cut off the older genreation of my target audience.

Bark
This is a play of words because bark if on trees, then because dogs bark. This will show to people that it is about parks. Also the name doesn't give too much away about the magazine.

Bench
I liked this name because there are benches in parks, this is also a simple word. The word bench has connotations of parks which means that people will know what the magazine is about. But the name might possibly be too simple.

LO1 Expanding ideas

Park community
The magazine is based on different parks each week. There a photos of dogs and different wildlife within the parks. There will be interviews with the people who reguraling go the park and with the people that maintain the park. There will be a section on different activities to do in the parks. Also there will be a map of the park. It will have any upcoming events in the park. The reader will be able to get a feel for what the parks community is like.

Fashion
This will include the latest styles and cookbooks. It will showcase independent clothes shops in Sheffield. This will show the reader where to get the clothes that fit their style. There will be interviews with people who are interested in fashion and are part of that community. Also the magazine will have different styles outfits with the cost. There will be a section for DIY so people can   make their own unique pieces of clothing.

Healthy Recipes
This magazine will show healthy recipes. Also it will show how to replace unhealthy food craving for heathy alternatives. It will have picture of different healthy foods and meals. It will show a 7 day heathy meal plan.
